The material in this guide is designed to aid school administrators, teachers, boards of education, advisory committees, and architects who share responsibility in the planning and equipping of a facility for career and technical education programs. This guide may be used in the construction of new facilities and/or the remodeling of existing facilities.
To design a functional facility, planners must understand the scope of the educational program (including career majors/career pathways), classroom activities, and instructional methods.
This guide is not intended to be all inclusive but will provide direction and stimulation for those responsible for planning and equipping a career and technical education facility. Additional assistance in each program area is available by contacting consultant(s) in the Kentucky Department of Education, Division of Career and Technical Education.
