The Kentucky Early Childhood Standards represent specific learning standards for children through 4 years of age. These standards are designed as a framework to assist parents, early care and education professionals, administrators and others in understanding what children are able to know and do from birth through 4 years of age.

The Governors Office of Early Childhood under the leadership of Executive Director Terry Tolan, is now located at State Office Building, 125 Holmes Street, Suite 3, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601. To contact the Early Childhood office please call 502-782-0200.

The two Kentucky Early Childhood Parent Guides are designed to help parents identify activities they can do with their children in their daily schedules that will support children's achievement of the Early Childhood Standards.

The GPS to a Child’s Success: Field Guide to the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards is designed as a daily implementation aid to assist parents, early care, intervention and education professionals, administrators and others in utilizing the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards across various settings. These guides are designed to accompany Kentucky’s Early Childhood Standards for both the birth to 3 and 3- and 4-year-old age groups and provide a variety of resource information.

The Kentucky Early Childhood Continuous Assessment Guide is a companion piece to the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards. The Continuous Assessment Guide provides support to programs and establish a continuous assessment system to measure a child's progress on the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards.

The Kentucky Early Childhood Quality Self Study is designed to assist classrooms and programs in self-assessing and planning for continuous improvement in five key areas associated with quality. The tool is for center-based programs serving children from birth to 5 years of age and is the third in the Building a Strong Foundation For School Success series.
